Coming Up in 2014 #2

I didn’t expect that the second of these posts would come around so soon, but there’s so much on at the moment to tell you about! A number of the things I wrote about in the first post haven’t come around just yet, so head there for even more ideas.

Easter in the Snowy Mountains – Day 1

It’s an early morning start as we hit the road to Cooma. I’ve dedicated half the Easter long weekend to study, and the first half to play. We’ve planned an ambitious two day round trip and I’ve got us to a strict schedule.

Overdue for a date night, we turned to our bucket list of restaurants and chose Malamay, another restaurant to have made the 2012 Canberra Top 20.

Yerrabi Walking Track / Boboyan Trig

The Yerrabi Walking Track is within the ACT, but, like some of the best walks, far from Canberra. It’s past Tuggeranong, past Tharwa, past Naas Road, and halfway down Boboyan Road (not to be confused with Old Boboyan Road). Oh, and Boboyan Road is a dirt road. It’s probably shorter to say that the Track is on the way to Adaminaby. It is also advisable to tell your walking companion – and the person in the driver’s seat – how far the car ride will be before you set off so you don’t have to have any awkward conversations along the lines of ‘so just how far is this?’ an hour into the journey…

Breakfast at The Elk and Pea

If the epitome of success is a packed restaurant at 11am on Canberra’s hottest day of the year, even when that restaurant’s air conditioning isn’t working, then Elk and Pea is already pretty darn successful.
