Plumb on Tennant, Fyshwick

21 Oct

I’ve spruiked continuously that Canberra is full of these ‘hidden gems’ – often we only hear about these places because they’re where we live, or through word of mouth (often because other people live there!). I’m not sure I would ever have heard of Plumb on Tennant if it wasn’t for CBR Foodie‘s lunchtime post a few weeks ago. You see, this hidden gem is in Fyshwick!

Monster Kitchen and Bar, New Acton

9 Sep

I don’t often associate restaurants attached to hotels with award-winning experiences, but Monster Kitchen and Bar in the Nishi building – and part of Hotel Hotel – has been scooping awards since its official opening a few months back – and yet has just a 52% approval on Urbanspoon (at the time of writing). First up: the hatted Terrace Restaurant at the All Saints Winery in Wahgunyah (near Rutherglen).

Poachers Pantry

5 Aug

It starts off simple enough: a friend and I are playing host to an old friend of ours from uni, and we’re keen to show off the best of our region to her. We’ve planned our Sunday around Fireside Festival events – our first stop will be Poachers Pantry for their ‘Music by the Fireside’ event – and I’m in charge of the booking. Easy done – or so I think.

Lunch at Bicicletta

21 Dec

Bicicletta had been getting some rave reviews, and when searching for a place to dine for in the dying days of 2012, it jumped to mind.

Siren Bar, Gungahlin

17 Oct

Siren Bar and Restaurant opened in Gungahlin this past July and it’d been garnering considerable buzz. So, after dragging Boyfriend out to Bonner to see just how far away it really is, I decided it made sense to have lunch at Siren and see just what everyone was talking about.
