Auto Italia is one of my favourite Canberra events. Don’t get me wrong: I know next to nothing about cars, but I do know what I like. And there’s lots to like at Auto Italia. What’s more, there’s Italian food, it’s got a great location on the lawns in front of Old Parliament House, and it’s free.
It’s been a shocking weather week, but the clouds part just long enough for Auto Italia to have its day, and Canberrans certainly appreciate it – the crowds are among the biggest I’ve seen in the three years I’ve been going.
We stop by at the Vespas and Lambrettas first – Boyfriend has a Vespa of his own, so we’re always curious.
Something different this year is that the cars were mostly on the paved areas – most of the lawns were left untouched.
Did I mention it was busy? It was REALLY busy.
Okay, back to the cars.
In addition to the cars, there was pizza, gelato, coffee and sausage sizzles. But this is a blog post about cars, not food.
There was a lot on show, but this Maserati was THE car of the day for this not particularly knowledgeable reporter:
Half an hour after we leave, the rain came down again. 😦
Date: Sunday, 30 March 2014
Where: Lawns in front of Old Parliament House, Parkes
Cost: Free
Worthwhile factor: Highly worthwhile
Want more? The official website is here. I also reviewed it in 2013 and 2012. Auto Italia will be back in 2015 on 29 March.
Was in Sydney so missed it….but the stream of beautiful cars going the other way on the Hume was something to behold. Sadly, a red Ferrari broken down in the rain at Mout St. Lights – sunroof stuck open 😦
Oh no!!! That’s awful!

I am thinking about establishing my very own blog site. Can you
give me a number of ideas?
Engaging reading. Great ideas, well made. I reckon you’re
spot on there.
I wish I was able to write quicker. Would love to setup a website such as this.
