Auto Italia 2014

30 Mar

Auto Italia is one of my favourite Canberra events. Don’t get me wrong: I know next to nothing about cars, but I do know what I like. And there’s lots to like at Auto Italia. What’s more, there’s Italian food, it’s got a great location on the lawns in front of Old Parliament House, and it’s free.

It’s been a shocking weather week, but the clouds part just long enough for Auto Italia to have its day, and Canberrans certainly appreciate it – the crowds are among the biggest I’ve seen in the three years I’ve been going.

Love this colour

We stop by at the Vespas and Lambrettas first – Boyfriend has a Vespa of his own, so we’re always curious.

Unusual... but clever!

Something different this year is that the cars were mostly on the paved areas – most of the lawns were left untouched.

Did I mention it was busy? It was REALLY busy.

At times it was difficult to see the cars!

Okay, back to the cars.

What a colour! This one got a lot of attention, too.

In addition to the cars, there was pizza, gelato, coffee and sausage sizzles. But this is a blog post about cars, not food.

There was a lot on show, but this Maserati was THE car of the day for this not particularly knowledgeable reporter:

Was in Sydney so missed it….but the stream of beautiful cars going the other way on the Hume was something to behold. Sadly, a red Ferrari broken down in the rain at Mout St. Lights – sunroof stuck open ๐Ÿ˜ฆ

Engaging reading. Great ideas, well made. I reckon you’re
    spot on there.

  5. I wish I was able to write quicker. Would love to setup a website such as this.
